Salut à tou.te.s,
Unlike English, French uses a grammatical gender for all nouns. Quite arbitrarily, some objects might be masculine or feminine. As I write these lines, I am on a computer (un ordinateur, nom masculin) which is on a table (une table, nom féminin). Other languages like German also have a neutral gender for any word that is neither masculine nor feminine, an option that many would like to implement in the French language. Whether it applies to objects, to people, to grammar or to sociology, there is much to discuss on the subject. Here are my video suggestions for this week: A groups: Le pronom "iel" | B groups: "Une nouvelle amie" by François Ozon (watch here, or free on Kanopy) | C group: "Petite Fille" by Sébastien Lifshitz (watch here, or free on MUBI)
